In this episode, we will show you how to turn off the what’s new highlights in Autodesk Maya 2014, or change the highlight color. First, go to window, and move your cursor to settings and preferences. In the fly out menu, click on preferences.
A new window will pop up. Make sure that interface is selected. Just uncheck, Highlight what’s new in this release.
If you want to change the highlight color, double click on the green colored bar, and a new window will pop up. You can now change the highlight color to your liking, and click done.
Al you have to do now, is click on save, and you are done.

How to move or remove the ViewCube in Autodesk Maya

In this episode, we will show you how to move the ViewCube in Autodesk Maya to another position, or to remove it completely. 


First, you need to go to Window, and choose, Settings/preferences, and in the fly out menu, choose preferences. A new window will pop up. Click on ViewCube, and at the display part, choose a different on screen position, by clicking on the drop down menu. You can choose the position, to where you want the ViewCube to show and also change the size of the cube and its opacity.

To turn the cube off entirely, just tick off, show the view cube, and click on save, after you are done.

In this episode, we will show you how to get rid off the background gradient in Autodesk Maya.


First you need to go to Window, and choose, settings/preferences. And in the fly out menu, choose preferences. A new window will pop up. Click on display, and choose, off, at background gradient. Then click on Save.

There is also a shortcut to change the background. Just hold down Alt, and click on, B. Repeat this, to cycle through the different backgrounds.
